Set in the 1960s after a devastating defeat, the United States has surrendered to the combined forces of the Soviet Union and China. With nuclear weapons neutralized on both sides, the Communist nations partition and occupy America. American men are mandated by the government to either serve in the military or perform grueling agricultural labor.
The story follows Billy Justin, a Korean War veteran working as a dairy farmer in rural New York. As the harsh realities of the Soviet occupation worsen through policies of attrition, Justin discovers a secret, unmanned US military satellite facility. He joins an underground resistance movement to launch the weapon, hoping to force the invaders to withdraw and reclaim American independence.
