Vintage Paperback Books Featuring Sleaze Themes
Sleazy is used to describe morally degraded people or places. Usually it refers to sexual behavior, but it is often associated with people trying to swindle others as well.
There are two basic book types that comprise the 'sleaze' genre during the 50s and early 60s. 1. Books that may have been categorized in other genres that were given a sexy cover to increase sales. The actual content, at best, had very mild sexual situations. 2. Books that pushed the edge of the the accepted legal definition of pornography, at the time, and had sexual themes and content.
